The mass production of plants for food and other purpose is called agriculture various stages of agriculture are as follows:
1.Ploughing : It help the loosen the soil.
2.Manuring : Manures are the fertilizers are added to the soil to provide nutrients to the soil.
3.Sowing Seeds: Healthy seeds are sown in the soil. olants grow from the seeds.
4.Irrigation : It Supplies water to the plants to grow .
5. Use of insecticides and pesticides : Pesticides and insecticides are chemicals that are sprayed on the standing crops .They protect the crops from insect and pests that destroy the crops.
6.Harvesting : When crop is ready ,it is cut and gathered after harvesting grains are stored properly in airtight to protects them from moisture, rats , moles, and birds.
Plants of the same kind grown on a large scale at a particular place, during a particular time are called crops .For examples , Crop of wheat means all plants grown in the field are wheat. the soil of a particular place and season affect the growth and development of crops. A crop grows well in one kind of soil but poorly in another .for examples ,cotton plants grow best in the black sols, while wheat plants grow in alluvial soil rich in humus
A particular crop may grow well in one season and may not grow well in another season. So different crops are grown in different seasons
1. Kharif Crops : The crops that grown from June to October are called Kharif crops. Rice , maize, and cotton are kharif crops .These crops depends on the mansoon rain
Rabi Crops : The crops that are grown from November to April are called rabi crops . wheat, gram, and pea are rabi crops . These crops do not depends on the monsoon rain.
